Notice of Intention to Designate Municipal Heritage Property

 

Notice is hereby given that on September 11th, 2025 at 10:00 am, the Council of the Rural Municipality of Prince Albert No. 461 intends to pass a bylaw pursuant to the provisions of The Heritage Property Act, to designate as Municipal Heritage Property the following real property known as The Steep Creek Community Church, Block A Plan 101481308 Ext 99, SW 18-49-22 W2, and located East on Highway 302 approximately 31.5 km from the City of Prince Albert, on Township Road 492 and Range Road 2230, in the Rural Municipality of Prince Albert No. 461.

 

The reasons for the proposed designation are as follows:

1. The one-and-a-half-acre parcel of land it stands on was purchased in 1929 in the name of The Steep Creek United Church with the names of the Church managers at the time being put on the title.

2. The Church itself was built in 1932 after years of fundraising within the community, including the Steep Creek Homemakers and Ladies Aid Society, many community picnics and box socials.

3. It is a known landmark in the district.

 

Any person wishing to object to the proposed designation must serve Council with a written objection stating the reasons for the objection and all relevant facts, not less than three days prior to consideration of the bylaw.
