Administration FAQs

Yes there is a discount for prompt payment on current tax, from January 1 to July 31 there is a 7% discount, August 31 – 6%, September 30 – 5%, October 31 – 4%, November 30 – 2%. This discount also applies to partial payments on current tax.

The tax notice will generally be mailed by the middle of July. You do not need your tax notice to pay current or arrears of taxes. Payments made before the current year levy is set will be based on the previous year levy.

Taxes are due December 31. 

If you know the owner of the stray contact him immediately. If you do not know the owner contact the RM Administrator at 306-763-2469.

Maps of the RM of Prince Albert are available at a cost of $20.00 from the municipal office. The cost, if mailed, is $22.00.

The RM of Prince Albert does not carry maps from another Municipality, however, we can provide you with a contact number so that you may order one from a particular municipality.

A burning permit is required for all types of burning within the RM of Prince Albert. There are two types of burning permit, one is a seasonal permit for a burning barrel and/or barbeque pit. The second type of burning permit is for a controlled burn such as burning a brush pile or slough edges, this is a one week only permit and may be extended by contacting the RM office at 306-763-2469. Permits are required from April 1 to October 31.
For one week permits you must call the City of Prince Albert at 1-866-404-4911 before you burn and again when the fire is out.
*Please call this number if you are burning from November 1 to March 31 to advise the fire department that you are burning.*

The RM of Prince Albert is divided into six divisions.

Division 1 Begins twelve miles east of the City of Prince Albert. Township 48 & 49, Ranges 23 and 22 are included. The north boundary is the North Saskatchewan River. The east and south boundaries are the River. From the Nisbet Provincial Forest Reserve to the Saskatchewan Forks.

Division 2 The west boundary is the City of Prince Albert and east 12 miles. The south boundary is the Russtan Road, extending north to the North Saskatchewan River. Aspen Estates is located in Division 2.

Division 3 The west boundary is adjacent to the west half of Sections 31, 30, 19, 18 7, 6 47-25 then east along Osborne Road and south adjacent to Section 31-46-25 continuing south along the west boundary of RL 52 to the South Saskatchewan River and extending to the east boundary of the South Saskatchewan River.

Division 4 The north boundary is the Red Deer Hill Road, the west boundary is the 3rd Meridian, the south boundary is the South Saskatchewan River, the east boundary is the South Saskatchewan River.

Division 5 The north boundary is the City of Prince Albert, excepting the RL 52-59 48-26 extended north to the North Saskatchewan River. The west boundary is the along the western edge of Sections 6, 31, 30, 29, 28, 7, 6 47 & 26. The south boundary is the Osborne Road. The east boundary is the east boundary of the City of Prince Albert heading south in a straight line to the Osborne road. Silver Willows and Southview Acres are located in Division 5.

Planning, Protection & Maintenance Service FAQs

The number and size of subdivisions that may be approved varies by zoning. To determine what size and number of subdivisions that you may be allowed contact our Planning and Development Officer, Teresa Hanson  at 306-763-2469. You will need to provide your legal land description.

Building permits and development permits are required for all new construction. Farm buildings such as barns or granaries do not require a building permit but a development permit should be completed in order to ensure compliance with setback requirements. For any questions regarding permits contact the Planning Officer at 306-764-2751.

To determine the land use or ‘zoning’ and the appropriate development regulations contact the Planning Officer at 306-764-2751. You will need to provide your legal land description.

The RM does not issue business licenses, however you will be required to complete a development permit. For specific regulations contact the Planning Officer at 306-764-2751. You will need to provide your legal land description.

Fire suppression services are provided by contract from the City of Prince Albert Fire Department.

The RM will snow plow driveways. A snow Removal Agreement is required which can be obtained from the Municipal Office or on the Permits page of our website. Also, a red flag at the end of your driveway will indicate to the snow plow operator that you wish to have your driveway cleaned. For the current rates, please contact the Municipal office or the Municipal shop; the rates are also listed on the Administration page of our website.

The Municipal crew may be available for custom work, depending on work load. Contact the Municipal Shop for further information.
