2023 Clubroot Monitoring Program – Soil Sample Bags

Good morning,

As part of the 2023 clubroot monitoring program, the Ministry of Agriculture and SaskCanola will be running the voluntary soil testing program again this year. Over the last three years these soil sample bags were available at the Ministry of Agriculture Regional Offices, various RM offices and SaskCanola. The RM of Prince Albert has soil sample bags to give producers, located at our Municipal Center.

Through this program, producers can pick up a soil testing bag from the Ministry of Agriculture Regional Office and our office. Once completed the filled soil sample bags should then be dropped back off at the regional office or the participating RM, where it will be submitted to the lab for clubroot testing at no cost to the farmer. If a producer utilizes this program, they can save $100 per soil sample. All soil sample bags should be returned to the office by October 27th, 2023.

The Plant Health Technical Advisors will pick up the completed soil samples from RM offices when all the soil samples are returned to the RM office. All leftover bags can be destroyed on November 1st.

In order for the lab to process the samples, producers will be asked to provide their name, contact information and field location. The bags will have a number on them, so they are able to coincide with the contact information of the producer that has the bag.  If there is not a minimum amount of contact information provided on the bag, then the sample may not be run at the lab, as we will not be able to return the results.

Please contact the office should you have any inquiries regarding the program, thank you!
